Precious is a final year History MA student and a History Access Scholar. Her research is on Xhosa woman poet, Nontsizi Mgqwetho. Precious is interested in how Mgqwetho was able to use poetry to mediate the layered contradictory realities of black life in the early twentieth century. Moreover, she is interested in uncovering the dearth of black women's writing and contributions to South Africa's political history, especially in the 1920s, when South African women were beginning to gain a new visibility in the political arena, engaging in activities that had political consequences and through actions that blurred the lines between the public and private spheres. Outside of the classroom, Precious has been involved in radio in various guises, first as a presenter and then a talk manager at UCT Radio.
