In October 2017, APC Chair, Carolyn Hamilton, attended the German Anthropological Association Conference, “Belonging: Affective, moral and political practices in an interconnected world”, held at the Freie Universität, Berlin. Hamilton participated in the  plenary on “Engaging the Post/Colonial Archive: Collections, Museums and the Politics of Access and Display”. See the APC’s former post doc, and current Humboldt fellow, Duane Jethro’s thoughtful reflection on the panel.

The Conference included a special session on the controversial Humboldt Forum initiative. Duane Jethro and Carolyn Hamilton subsequently visited the Humboldt Forum site currently under construction site and the interim installation. APC’ers Katharina Schramm, Regina Sarrieter, Duane Jethro and Carolyn Hamilton further took the opportunity to visit the Berlin Botanical Gardens together and there to debate matters of plant imperialism.
