Jo-Anne Duggan appointed to the Western Cape Archives Advisory Committee

Jo-Anne Duggan, Archival Platform director and APC research student has been appointed by the Minister of Cultural Affairs and Sport, Western Cape Government, to the Western Cape Archives Advisory Committee from 1 April 2019.

As a member of this Committee, Duggan will be tasked with:

  • promoting, complementing and supporting the objects and functions of the Western Cape Archives and Records Service;
  • advising the Minister on issues relating to archival and record management matters;
  • advising and assisting the Head of the Service in carrying out the objects and functions of the Service; and
  • approving the appraisal policy of the Service and monitoring its implementation.

Duggan's work as the Director of the Archival Platform and the insights she has gained through her participation in the preparation of the Platform's reports, State of the Archives: an analysis of South Africa's national archival system (2015) and A Ground of Struggle: Four Decades of Archival Activism in South Africa, 2018 will stand her in good stead.
