SEMINAR SERIES

In this occasional forum, visiting scholars and Research Initiative participants present work in an advanced state of development. We also host occasional once-off collaborations with cognate projects such as the Heritage Disciplines Project and the Centre for Humanities Research at the University of the Western Cape, the Nelson Mandela Foundation, the Archival Platform and the UCT Sawyer Seminar Series. The seminar series was launched in 2009 with papers from Daniel Herwitz, Jane Anderson (co-hosted with the Sawyer Seminar Series), David Cohen and Christian Williams. Other past seminars include:

The Perils of the Archive: Peter McDonald and Hedley Twidle in conversation

Carroll Clarkson on Light-Writing

Ancestors and Archives: Paul Landau on Popular Politics in the History of South Africa, 1400-1948

Stephen Greenblatt on Marvellous Possessions: The Wonder of the New World

Sarah Nuttall on Entanglement

David Simpson on The Iraqi War Memorial Project

Brenda Schmahmann on Bringing Cecil out of the Closet: Negotiating portraits of Rhodes at two South African universities
